Generally nearly all large companies will have employees devoted to online image, so it isn't as if any PR position with a social media focus is gonna be shilling for political shit.
You've gotta track down the companies that do this, generally it seems that the title is something like social media agent, social media consultant, etc.
I've seen an internship or two from my university's department that look a bit suspiciously like this, from companies/organizations that are blatantly political. I'm a psychology (read: pseudoscience) major with about a year to go. in the southeast US.
I would imagine that mostly an internship would segway into a position with an organization or company involved in legitimate shilling, or based upon networking within and between already-established shillin' groups. Most likely there are at least a couple internships related to this in any humanities/social science student.
And, of course, these students are rather overwhelmingly liberal. Surprisingly, my peers don't bother me with their views when they profess them. I treat it like someone blatantly shitposting on /pol/ with satirical shit.
