I quit smoking cold turkey 6 months ago. I would smoke 1/2 - 1 pack a day. It started with a cough that didn't go away, for a month non-stop. The first week was a bit rough, eyes were watery, couldn't concentrate, felt tired. Coffee was a big trigger for me, as that was my morning ritual. Eventually after 2 weeks I felt no more physical symptoms, only the habit left. It wasn't very hard desu, I think people exaggerate, or are very weak willed. These days I live in a smoker's house, I smell it most of the time, cigarettes are freely available, but I never feel too tempted. My lungs are lighter, I can breathe well no more phlegm. I feel great
I said I would quit if I ever had a kid but I turned out to be sterile so I guess never.

I've smoked a half dozen cigars and probably had around two packs worth of cigarettes over the years and I will literally never understand why people smoke. I can physically feel my lungs seizing up, having to process the irritants I'm inhaling.
I guess it's just because I'm a health freak. The idea of inhaling carcinogens and toxins deliberately just does not appeal to me and overrides any good feeling from nicotine.
Nicotine and caffeine are chemically very similar, you can get almost the exact same effect from coffee or chocolate anyways.

Trying right now. Only using electronic cigs for nicotine and using it less and less until the cravings go away. Then nothing will go into my lungs other than oxygen.
