It's not really a surprise though. Most Germans experience Switzerland through work, either because they live near the border and work in Switzerland or because they move there to work there. Usually Germans dont vacate in Switzerland because it's really quite similiar and ontop of that expensive. The other way around, Swiss tend to not vacate in Germany much because they want to go somewhere warm in the winter and in the summer they're quite similiar.
So most of the contact the Swiss and Germans have with eachother is inherently cold because it's business related.

it doesnt work that way here, Miroslav. You being born here makes absolutely no difference. You will be treated the same as everybody else when trying to get into the country and applying for citizenship is 12 years away from today.

What I like about switzerland is that they treasure their sovereignty. I think most other countries are too tolerant of all types of foreign meddling. It really takes a special type of country to refuse to participate in a union that geographically surrounds you on all sides.

Even if you understand Swiss German perfectly, if you don't speak it, people will view you as someone who hasn't really bothered to learn the language.

Wouldn't surprise me if they were naturalised, they're usually some of the worst for that kind of thing. I knew a naturalised Swiss guy with Italian parents. Born and raised here, spoke German, and when it came down to getting citizenship him and his two siblings everyone said yes, except for one guy called something like Ömer Ühülügay. But it was 2/3 majority, instead of unanimous, so they still all got it.
