I don't even know how English speakers would shorten those names and I sure have no idea how they would spell them if they read them. I was like 15 years old when I found out that my mother's French name was pronounced totally wrong by nearly everyone in town. Her father even spelled it wrong on the birth certificate which nearly blew the wedding because they couldn't get a license.

Those names are surely better than naming your kid "Apple" or "Maddox" but you need to think practically. Wilhelm & Co. are making a comeback in Germany but I don't know about your neck of the woods. Willy and Henry don't sound too bad as nick names.

Depends on what you want to see. Nuremberg will probably crush you the most since they have a lot material nowadays how it looked before the invasion and now you are walking through the remnants. But you'll get to see some of the stuff from the NS time, so if you are into that than the Zeppelinfeld and the surrounding areal should be on the top of your list. Bamberg is real close and called by some the Venice of Bavaria but they are in the northern part of Bavaria. But since I am Frankonian I have to mention them just like Würzburg (google the "Residenz" if you are into Baroque). It's where the best wine and beer comes from. ;-)
Regensburg is a historical must with all the churches alone: Dom St. Peter / St. Kassian / St. Emmeram
Maybe take a trip down along the Danube? Neuburg a. d. Donau is nice too and of course don't forget Augsburg where the real Fuggers come from.

We are a densely populated and cultivated country. Everywhere you'll step you will see something. I guess you know Schloss Neuschwanstein already.
My personal interest is always "Deutsches Musem" in München but you really have to decide that for yourself and you have to plan a full day for it at least.
>>
>>71891036
>Would I as a Norwegian notice the cultural differences today?
Different architecture, different churches and of course different regional dishes. Would you notice that today? Maybe not at first. Would you notice the Germans are all different? Yes, you just have to hear them talk because we have distinctive dialects. Enjoy the Viennese. It's the cutest in my opinion.

>Nationalism is not Nazism, nothing wrong with nationalism in itself.
It's a pretense to get people under a central rule regardless of their religious believe or their culture. It just advances the NWO in the end.
>>
>>71892196
Thanks man. Neuschwanstein is already planned, looks stunning, with the surrounding land too.

I am planning on a 4-6 week long trip so it only depends on how much money I am willing to use, and not time. The more historical cities I read about in Southern Germany kind of makes me think of skipping Prague and starting in the Nuremberg area and trying to cover as much of South-Germany as possible before heading through the Alps and into Italy.

There have been an increase of people here going to Berlin, but Southern Germany seems to have so much more to offer in aesthetics.

>>71892664
1. Interesting. We have very different distinctive dialects here too, but the architecture (not considering inland/coast/urban/rural), and the culture is pretty much the same. But then again, Germany is a country with 16 times the population.

2. I am not talking about that kind of nationalism, I am talking more about the romantic nationalism. Unique landscapes, dialects/languages, architecture, history etc.

Berlin is the degenerate shithole of Germany.
If you must go there, stick to the government quarter.
There are also lots of historic cities in the north.
Schwerin, Rostock, Münster, Goslar, Lüneburg, Bad Bentheim, Aachen (burial site of Charlemagne), Osnabrück, Bremen (beautiful old town; shitskin infested otherwise) etc
Not many castles though for obvious reasons.
Saxony has also lots of castles though less frequented.

>There have been an increase of people here going to Berlin, but Southern Germany seems to have so much more to offer in aesthetics.

That is one of the historical reasons I don't like nationalism. On /pol/ you'll always see posts about Bismarck and how great the Prussians were but the problem is that all their power and military was all they were good for. Prussia was a cultural backwater compared to the rest of the German nation and Bismarck's hostile takeover, which destroyed a peaceful German federal system, only lead to wars among ourselves and the exclusion of a fifth of the German nation and the inclusion of millions of foreigners (Danes, Lithuanians,...).

It's a bastardization to call this construct build on the blood of innocent Germans the unification of Germany or even lesser German solution. It has been the onset of our demise.

Amidst all what is happening to our nation right now I find myself often walking through some of the old monasteries and mills. It's a beautiful country we got here from our ancestors. Not big city metropolises. We're really rural. My English co-worker found this really funny: "You got people everywhere. You drive out of town and there are towns and villages along the road. For us its just roads and nothing on the side till the next town comes up."

I hope you like it. I hope I could you consider the Deutsches Museum in Munich although it's just a museum. Also check out Chiemgau. Lindau and the Bodensee is really for old people though beautiful.
