Reddit's userbase aside, Reddit's format makes it a convenient tool for looking up specialized information since it isolates groups who are interested in a single thing. If you need to know shit that can't be googled, you can just track down whichever subreddit has a bunch of nerds talking about the subject and search for an answer.
Ideally, the stereotypical reddit users will migrate to the hugbox and the nerds will stay behind to keep discussing more efficient ways to build arcade controller boards in an easy to find place.
