What Trump needs to do to prevent losing in a second ballot is to use those negotiation skills he is always bragging about. What would be the point? Democrats already do that, they cash in on what is popular in order to secure more votes. Look at Hillary's stance on gay marriage, it's basically just coincided with the popular opinion at the time. She was anti gay marriage when the country still agreed as a majority that marriage is between a man and a woman, but 15 or so years later now that the opinion has switched she claims to have always been a gay marriage proponent. Bernie is doing the same thing, he recognizes that BLM is really popular right now so he's endorsing them and their hypothetical causes just to win more votes.
In my opinion it's not right to respond to facade politics with facade politics. Republicans are pretty steadfast in their general moral positions, of course varying from person to person, because they believe in standing for what they believe to be right. Having a republican candidate who pretends to be pro-legalization and all of that other nonsense seems to be worse than a democrat who pretends to be über liberal because it at least makes some sense for the democrat to be okay with degenerating society in the name of progressivism.
