You don't understand the numbers, he still easily had the numbers to defend the border, even with rudimentary fortifications. The Soviet Army facing a German army fighting defensively with full numbers of experience troops with full stocks of equipment and oil would easily destroy the soviet attack, who only managed to have any success against German forces that were either minimal in number or out of gas and ammo.
Chemical Weapons would have also been effective in destroying the soviets, especially since Germany was the only side at the time with Nerve gas.

If you invade spain or change the regime of your nominal ally, why would anyone decide to cooperate with you? You risk the support of vichy, slovakia, hungary, and romania. If nothing else, spain could still put up half a million men and they have a pact with portugal.

The Royal Navy wasn't a force that was united in one giant destruction fleet. The Royal Navy in Mediterranean was actually weaker in some aspects compared to the Italian Navy.
The Italian Navy did have the capability to invade Malta, the reason it never happened was because most of the Italian Army's forces were in Greece and Africa, and their elite frogmen units were also concentrated against British forces in Greece.

Germany's allies were mostly afraid of Germany. Romania was occupied by Germany troops in 1941, Hungary would never risk going against Germany, Slovakia was a secure puppet. Vichy France would have supported an invasion of Spain, and such an action might have got them officially in the Axis actually.

Danzig was a free city but had 95% german population (nearly 400k). Poland blocked food coming to the city and wanted to take it by force. Poland also destroyed railway lines and shot on civilian airplanes before the war started.
Hitler didn´t give an ultimatum to poland. He wanted negotiations with poland at any costs. The problem was though, poland removed their diplomat from berlin after britain gave the "clean slate" to poland. That meant that any negotiations had to go through britain. Thanks to Halifax, the last desire for negotiations from germany to poland got delayed on purpose for 5 days a few days before the war. Halifax even lied to his own diplomat henderson in berlin. This 5 day delay made hitler think "ok poland doesn´t want to negotiate" and in order to stop the killings in poland, the siege on danzig etc he invaded...
Also good to know, everybody knew about the molotov-ribbentrop pact (splitting of poland between germany and russia) and nobody (not even UK or US) told poland because the allies knew that this knowledge would have forced poland to send a diplomat to negotiate, this would have prevented the war.
