I was spoiled as a kid, grew up playing Super Nintendo and Playstation, never tried in school, yet still had perfect grades. Was fat, into manga and animu and had no friends, so lost over 100 pounds in high school and started hanging out with people and getting some female attention, graduated, still spoiled with no job, fucked around at community college for like two years, failed everything except shit like Geography, both parents got cancer, dad died, mom lived, but needed help since she was working full time and needed someone to help take care of the house, do the cooking, cleaning, and errand running, stayed and did all that shit and I'm still doing it to this day. Nostalgiad, and got sad. I miss the old Kara raids, back when we had all our regulars. Was a blast. I regularly pulled 35-40% of the total raid damage. We occasionally did some 25 mand with other guilds, which was cool too. My arcane mage was #1 guild dps (stacked int and chased all the dock t bonuses), followed very closely by my BM hunter, and my assassination rogue pulling a more distant third.
Then wrath happened, and it was great at first, but then guild attendance became more sporadic. I was still top dps, but the race was closer. One of our warlocks was usually only a couple percent behind me, and another hunter crept in sometimes. We never beat algalon, and almost got Arthas.
Then cataclysm came and everyone was leaving. I realized I wasn't having fun anymore, and left without saying goodbye. Now it's too late.

We would arrive at 9am and stay till 1:30pm when they closed. We'd play Counter-Strike, Dota, Age of Empires II, Rakion, and GunZ. Once we afforded our own PC's we all played WoW together, we even made our own guild, 3 years we raided, pvp'd at Tarren Mill, spent our nights together. After senior year in high school it all ended, we seperated never to speak again, we went our own ways. The lan cafe eventually went out of business, yet I'm still here. Alone.

It was a good time. I *hated* high school despite being in what they called the 'gifted' IQ range, and dropped out when I was 16.
So I played WoW, and got to live in another world for a few years. Made friends, played in an end-game raiding guild, and made multiple 'server firsts'. Helped noobs, spent a lot of late nights farming, and generally got along well with MMO people. WoW back then would let you end the day feeling like a hero, even if it all was just in a virtual world.

I hate getting older. I have a very vivid memory and nostalgia is heart wrenching and painful for me, I hate that so many of my fond memories are so far away now. My own mortality is never far from the back of my mind, I can already feel my body deteriorating and every year I just get a little bit uglier.
I'd say even though everything has gone to shit compared to when I was a teenager or kid, I'm still really happy with my life. That's what makes the prospect of getting old and dying so terrifying to me.
