The one big thing that triggers me about Fahrenheit is how Mr. F decided on the 0 mark. Basically, he got a few chemicals together and tried to find the coldest possible temperature he can get out of those chemicals, set water freezing temperature at an arbitrary point, and put the boiling point 180 degrees above that because and I quote "180 divides into a lot of numbers" (like who divides temperature?)

Nope. You're thinking about Kelvin. You can actually multiply and divide Kelvin and get meaningful results. (For example, entropy is defined to be energy divided by temperature, but it's only valid if the temperature has its zero-point at absolute zero, like Kelvin does.)

Both Fahrenheit and Celsius have the disadvantage of not being meaningful to do any multiplication or division with it.

Incorrect. When you're using Celsius, you are not using Kelvin, and vice-versa.

They are defined to be different measurements, so treating them as different measurements would not be considered "retarded" (to use your terminology).

There is only one special case where you can substitute one for the other, and that's the case when you're talking about a difference between two temperatures in Celsius, then you can change it to Kelvin.

You apparently understand only that one special case, and not the general case.

You can do whatever the fuck you want with digits in any manner you wish, there is no need to use them 'efficiently'.

Real life temperatures roughly range between -40C and 40C with the freezing point of water conveniently in the middle as 0.
The 0 to 100 is quite useful for cooking.
