So I'm thinking about going to the Czech Republic this September for vacation. I'll stay in Prague a few days and then stay in small towns for the next two weeks.
I dont know much about it aside from what I've read on travel blogs/wikipedia. How many refugees have they taken in and is there any place I should avoid? Any non-Slavic speakers pick up at least basic Czech and what tools did you use? What's up with the name change to Czechia?

This is important. A lot of Eastern Europeans who have interacted with Westerners might know that you aren't actually asking them about their state of affairs, but it's still a little bit rude and you should, as a guest in their country, avoid causing consternation. Be direct in your use of language so that there isn't confusion as to what you are trying to talk about.
Also I'm not entirely sure how it is with the Czech's, but Russians I've met have very different concepts of "friendship". Just try to be courteous, or better yet read up on how to interact with people you have just met.
