I live in Boston and only the heavy rail is reliable. The green line (trolley) is an overcrowded mess and gets held up by traffic constantly. They recently axed late-night service after already downgrading it a year ago; they give it a 2 year trial and just gave up on it because they expect people to rely on something that's just going to be taken away without much notice. Had they kept things running until 2-230am at least on the weekends I'd be okay, but they can't even do that.
