There wasn't a wall between east and western germany. That was berlin. The border between east and west germany just had tons of guards, outposts, and I believe landmines.
Personally I'd be all for setting landmines all throughout the desert areas on the mexican boarder.

It is estimated that illegal immigrants cost the USA 113$ Billion per year, along with the driving down of wage levels. The wall will cost roughly 10 billion dollars to make, so the investment will pay off more than tenfold in one year

its a good idea but people will always find a way in. Even if it means going through Canada south, default on their work visa and stay, or build tunnels. you cant stop the memes from coming my friend
