I'm an atheist, but I play religious services as a classical musician all the time. I am highly respectful of the religions, and I realize that at a minimum, religion was a necessary stepping stone on whatever humanitys path is
But personally, it scares me the kind of violent emotional power religion can have over people. And at the end of the day...I just dont believe in the super natural

That is a claim, not evidence, not to mention the possibility that the information is secondhand. We cannot also rule out the predisposition of the historian to believe it. Historic writings by biased historians aren't exactly reliable evidence, and if we look at the rest of history, we can understand the extreme possibility of this. And as I said, it is non-falsifiable, and is not proven in modern science. Now if Jesus Christ of Nazareth were to appear today and perform miracles and show modern science that it is in fact possible, then there is then proof, but for now, there is no actual proof.
