The training is certainly great, bit it is more the decision of the private soldier than his superiors as to what training he looks for. We offer survival training in all environments, advanced marksmenship, linguistics, etc.

Sure other countries might put more money into the individual soldiers training, but they ain't doing shit. The US has never used the full might of its military. We have always pulled our punches. Even during WW2, fighting in two theaters, we still had a fraction of our population conscripted. Millions of able bodied men stayed home to man the factories and farm the fields. We still made cars and movies while other countries were only making tanks and bombs.

Experience actually means a lot. You're getting all philosophical about it for no reason. A unit fresh off a combat deployment has a bunch of real world force-on-force repetitions doing all manner of combat related tasks. They have troubleshot a bunch of problems that simply never come up during training, they have overcome levels of discomfort that is usually not allowed during training, and have months or years of continuous shared learnings that have honed them into a fighting machine.
A unit will never be more ready to deploy than they are immediately after returning from a deployment.
