That's an army uniform, armored division (pink colour). They also wore the death's head as their symbol but they weren't SS.

Damn he reminds me of my grandfather who wore a similar uniform during WW2.
He survived the Ostfront in russian captivity after his regiment got overrun and returned home after.
He died of cancer at the age of 78

According to the dot and eagle on the cap he's Whermacht. Pink piping indicates Mechanized, the skull and crossbones collar tabs were a hold over from cavalry days.
He was a tank/ armored personnel carrier crewman in the Army.
If he was SS he'd have had a Totenkopfh cap device and slanted eagle wings.

Quickest way to tell Heer from SS were the Eagle pins and patches. There's a slight but telling difference between the two.
It's about the edges of the eagle wings, SS were slanted whereas Whermacht had the eagles wing tips taper into a v shape.

Panzer crews wore Death's head whether they were SS or Heer. I didn't see any SS runes on the uniform. Also a few Luftwaffe panzer units wore them.

I found my grandfathers Ausbildungs or Führungsbuch from the Wehrmacht. It explained in detail what he was good at and why he was drafted to the division he was drafted to and what his task was.

Well, my grandmother came from a town called Böhmisch Röhren which is located today directly over on the Czech side of the border with Bavaria. When the Soviets came they expelled everyone and bulldozed the city and looted/destroyed everything else. My grandmother was only allowed to take what she could carry. The only things that I have from her is her Mein Kampf from 1934, some photos albums, and not much more.

That's not SS, that's a Wehrmacht tank uniform. The tankers wore the Totenkopf on the collar as a nod to the old Prussian cavalry. That's why the cap has the Wehrmacht cockade instead of the SS Totenkopf

Just here to pay my respects to your family, german bros.
My grandpa and two brothers of his fought for the Germans in WW2 - the Romanian-German push through Moldova, Ukraine and up until Stalingrad.
When I was young he taught me the Iron Cross songs (nationalist-socialist party from Romania during the world war) and he used to tell me stories from the front.
I can still remember the look on his face when he was telling me about the Rzov offensive or the push to Stalingrad (Donn offensive).
His two brothers died (one of them Infantry Corps, the other Romanian Air Force). My grandpa was captured when the soviets broke the romanian defences at Stalingrad.
He was forced to march and fight under the bolsheviks, against his own men, up until the Vienna offensive. After the Allies won the war, he came back to Romania by foot, only to get incarcerated by the communists for Treason.
He was in prison for 10 years until the commies signed a legal document that released thousands of political prisoners, back in the '60 or something.
My grandpa always told me that the Germans were nice people. They did not treat the commoners different, they used to give sweets to children and play with them during free time.
When the soviets came, they raped and pillaged everything. My grandma's family had to hide in an underground system near their house, just so that they won't get raped or killed. Their house was burned to the ground and all their properties were confiscated by the commies ..
