I am from the Maritimes and I would hardly call us 'based'.
Historically there was a lot of mixing with the natives in this part of Canada, especially with the french. The effect of this has made a good chunk of us pretty trashy (and heavily attracted to Nissan Titans).
Sure we might be 'white' (used loosely) but I would say we don't really live up to the standard. It's safe as fuck here though, I'll give us that.

It's still an ongoing process to see if Quebec's nationalism will outlast multiculturalism of Canada. We're still based as fuck in our distrust for Muslims while still making them anti religious. I know a good number of people who consider themselves Muslims because of their parents and their heritage but basically practice nothing of the religion. It's great.
Plus with Quebec being one of the most apatheist places in the world, all the weird shit you hear from the US about insane evangelicals doesn't really happen. Quebec always had a strong elitism distrust for Catholic chruch while the rest of the population was deeply religious for a very long time, until they fucked us over with Duplesis and no one went to chuch after that.
Overall, we're doing pretty good culturally. We just need to become good economically. It's really the only thing everyone agrees needs to get better before we can talk about separation.

That's true, though it varies through the region (some ethnic groups seem fatter than others). Third, he's only taking established families - middle-aged parents with some kids in tow. None of this young, 25 year old men traveling alone and with no passports business.
In the end, we're taking educated, wealthy, politically moderate, intact families who can integrate into the culture and contribute economically.
In order words, we're taking the exact same people that we would normally take as immigrants.
