I recall reading that you can get stem cells from umbilical cord and placenta. Might be wrong, but if that's true then I have no problem with it. Using killed humans to do it? Please no.

Akiko Shimamura, a Harvard professor and physician, came up with a method to induce 'pluripotent' stem cells (cells than can make any tissue) from previously differentiated cells. You basically put the cell in acid and it de-differentiates back into a stem cell, which can then be differentiated into whatever cell you want it to be.
