So I was at work today and interacting with a Muslim man. Arabic name, skin color, long beard, and his wife was donning a head wrap standing off by the door.
I am a full blooded Irish mongrel with pale white skin and a red beard. Which also is pretty damn large compared to my colleagues.
As I greeted him he said "As-Salamu Alaikum" and referred to me as Brother 2-3 times. I replied back with a smile and nod of my head and told him to have a good day as he left.
Do Muslims do this for everyone or did he mistake the beard for a symbol of faith?

I think they do this to everyone. Around here, the way muslims integrated was by opening up their own chicken shacks because of our large black population around us. They call me and everyone else brother when they take our order. The ones around us try pretty hard to assimilate, muslims work hard and cause no trouble here in NJ, at least where I live.
