Needs to be said a lot more often today.
It's kinda sucky though that the few cultural landmarks Vietnam had were all destroyed by the war.
This war sucked, for both sides. Also after hearing stuff from my ex from South Vietnam, I am no longer sure Muricans were the bad guys.

Interestingly, people don't really hate Americans in there (again, in the South, maybe it's different in the North). It's like "yeah, they had a war, then they left". They don't even hate French, since they don't really think France is gonna go to overtake them again.
But they really hate China and Chinese because of all the current troubles with China in the sea, and China is an asshole and right next to them. So it's an actual threat.
Also they kinda don't like Cambodia because they think they will want the South back (historically it's Khmer), and Cambodia is pro-Chinese nowadays, but not really that much. Cambodia is also piss poor so no real threat.
Main hate is with China. Even when they are both fake-communist. No real US hate.

Yeah, this would have been just a handful of years after the war and it really struck a chord in me back then. The memories are still clear almost 40 years later, him stepping outside and my friend running around in the yard when it rained. He was a really chill guy with an Asian wife, go figure. Probably 'came back with him', as their son was my age (born '71/72) and she had the accent.
