A M2.4 earthquake hit a close to where I live back in 2011. It felt like an unusually large truck passing our house and lasted no more than a couple of seconds. It was still enough to cause cracks in the concrete base of a few houses.

It's hard to imagine how a M6+ earthquake must feel.

I was in the 4.something Kent quake last year

Super weird and eerie. Hearing things rattle that aren't meant to rattle. I suffer from vertigo when I'm in bed (body feels like it's on a boat, going in and out) so I thought I had a bad episode of vertigo, but then I realised I wasn't the one shaking. And this was a decent few miles from the epicentre .

This is a good point.

Simply the availability heuristic at work.
When it hits, the area will be "safe" for a few hundred years afterwords so after rebuilding I don't see why not, it'd be safe assuming the supervolcano a don't go off

>93 earthquakes today

>2,907 earthquakes in the past month
>50,509 earthquakes in the past year

50,5k earthquakes in the past year makes a daily average of 138 and monthly average of 4209, both of which are far greater than the current counts for the past 24 hours and 30 days.

>>
>>71657554
If you're in that area, go north east or south west, if it happens and you're there and near the coast...you might die actually. If you're away from the coastline, get to higher ground and fast. The tsunami will be brutal.
Especially if it is the Hayward fault going off. The natives there had a policy to not build near the coast, because they were around the last time it went off..we ignored them and started building in the 90's on the coast.
>>71657571
Yea. The issue is the rebuilding, kinda hard to do that when the roads are fucked.

Ayy lmaos are somehow linked to Yellowstone.
>>
>>71659552
This. That's why we are seeing what we are seeing. From Old Faithful squirting irregularly to several <4m earthquakes in odd places does point to seismic activity that is not the norm. It's building. >>71658257
It's unusual for Ecuador to get rocked that bad, Japan is more used to being shaky but, we are looking at big picture not every quake is important but most of them are meaningful for us to try and speculate about if this is the beginning of the era-defining quakes
