Keep up momentum with them both.
Either you kill the old parties (likely with the repubs) or you introduce more than two into the system.

It can't. The 2 parties control all aspects of the political system. They control the debates and who is allowed in, they control acceptance of political applications for candidates (either through corruption or jacking up fees for the application process), they control each backed media source.
All in all, it's a rigged game and they control the flow of the game.

While they control the a lot there are other ways to spread information about candidates beyond televised debates now, and third parties can run successfully in lower levels until they gain enough momentum to run for larger offices such as congress. The primary issue is there is no unifying force for them like the republicans and democrats, they need a figurehead to encourage their growth nationwide, even if ground up

Make 1 party. Nationalize it so that federal election laws apply. Anyone can run on any position for party nomination. Repubs and democrats and any other party can still nominate but the nationalized party would give people some control so if Ted Cruz says Carson is out then hes fucking arrested.

i really see nothing wrong with the two party system. we're at eachother necks one day, then one side loses and we deal with it until the next cycle.
all more candidates will do is make us argue more until finally we're the middle east, fighting for leadership positions with a majority vote of 34%.
