There are a couple of obvious problems with the PNW.
The whites that were born there are the least racially aware people in america. On top of that, east of the casacades, the people are extremely liberal. The land overall is ok. The interior is basically desert and only a coastal strip could support large scale agriculture.
Furthermore, a unilateral succession would be denied by the federal government.
The plan only works as a backup plan to the inevitable soviet/yugoslav style collapse of the United States.

The northwest doesnt actually do anything illegal, they are just moving to the northewest, getting jobs and getting to know oneanother.
