If kids are involved men are fucked, most of the really bad raping of mens wallets comes from child support. Family courts side with women 90% of the time and dont allow legal representation.
In both cases the man and woman both need to seek legal counsel to structure dividing assets and simply fighting back and forth the legal costs will frequently cost you any assets you have left making sure it's split evenly.
Getting married is easily the single worst thing a man can do in the current climate, it enters you into a legally binding contract between you, your partner, and the state.
