The reason it appears so is because of the stigma associated with it due to the attrocities during WWII.
Stupid people are less likely to think about how the stigma will affect them and are less likely hold important jobs/position in which people are more scrutinized.

In reality there are a great many educated people who know what is going on, but the culture in which we live is so hostile to thought crimes that speaking out will have massive financial and social implications.
The poorest and least educated in society, having very little to lose anyway, are free to speak. Also, their economic prospects having been destroyed in part by immigration, they are dependant on governments handouts, and so if they vote at all they will on the whole vote for the party that is offering more welfare, which will also be the party that is bring in more immigrants.

High IQ people are more likly to live in safe ethnically homogeneous neighborhoods. Low IQ people are more likely to live around immigrant and so they have a first hand account of the problems multiculturalism causes.

I have a couple of friends who hate foreigners, immigrants and are complete racists. Because of this they want to protect what they have against what the see as an enemy; aka the outside world. I of cause encourage this as it aligns with my nationalistic views. That however does not make them nationalist as they have no idea what that word even means.

People of above-average IQ (110 - 125) posses elevated mental elasticity and hence can think in novel ways. This also grants them increase capacity accepting cognitive dissonance, as seen with "educated" feminists. It is people with average IQ (95 - 109) that largely lack these kinds of resources and are far less receptive to believing two contradictory things at the same time.
