I went to Iran last year. Cities are pretty liberal (maybe Western is the right word?) and secular, people are pretty chill and women toe the boundaries of sharia law, are pretty assertive and come talk to you. I reckon you could pull anyone out of the cities and they would fit into Western societies, no dramas. The rural area is more conservative. People are very friendly and want to talk but there's a greater degree of separation between Western and their culture.
