Greece got low interest rates on its bonds because people thought EMU would make them more fiscally responsible, or they would back them in default. Greece borrowed a shit ton of money, had constant trade deficits, ran budget defieciets of like 9% of GDP for like 8-9 years. Financial crisis hit, Greece's problem became apparent. Realized they couldn't repay. This is also due to their government being really shitty with money, giving companies preferential treatment that did not allow competition and wages rose like crazy. It is now a structural problem. Their economy, even with a decreased cost of living can't comepete with other European countries. They won't privatize SOEs, won't allow more companies in. They are now in a recession and can't use expansionary fiscal policy because they have austerity policies enforced on them. They are taxing higher, killing businesses, and worsening everything. Greece is kind of fucked.

I might be talking out of my ass here, but most Canadians seem to be christians, practicing their faith or not.
Most minorities seem to be either not practicing their religion or are not very vocal about it.
Combine that with the fact that your only land border is with another predominantly white christian culture (for the next 100 years or so?) and what you get is a pretty homogenous country.
Again, I don't know much about Canada and its culture, but it looks to be far more "white" and christian than Sweden does nowadays, because they truly have become the shithole that delusional lefties always wanted it to be.
Aside from that, Canada isn't socialist. It might be a socialist democracy, but that has as much to do with socialism as a sleeping kitten has to do with a lion.
The idea to work for the good of your society and in turn benefit from it yourself is a good one, but in reality is only feasable so far. Pure socialism is an unrealistic concept and if you try to force it into reality, literal shit becomes real and your country drowns in it.
