US to buy 190 more F-22s, and also Israel will be able to have the option to buy 100 of them to share the costs of restarting the line.

Israel's refusal to keep the Raptor technology secret was the whole reason that we banned Raptor export entirely.

Bullshit. The F35 is going to happen and it's going to be a great jet.

Even though the cost has overrun, it will be more cost effective if we run it for the next 40 years rather than keeping up old hardware.

It would be cool to get more raptors but WEW there is a snowballs chance in hell of it actually happening for a long list of reasons
>>
>>71601957

Maybe it's also a scheme to let those allies have
some ownership over the platform so that they can maintain and enhance the fighters themselves?

Maybe the US wouldn't want to share too much of the plans and source code for the F-22 (and the other fighters it probably share code with), but they are fine with it for the F-35 which is mostly developed from scratch (different programming language even).

NICE TRY BUT YOU TOLD A HALF TRUTH JUST LIKE TED CRUZ WOULD.

Actually a Congressional committee directed the Pentagon to study the feasibility of restarting production of the F22, and if there is or will be a need for it in the ever changing spectre of war.

The committee gave the brass until January 1, 2017 to submit their report.

OP is of course, full of shit.

The F-35 is nice, but they're no substitutes for F-22s. The F-22 is the big daddy tactical fighter. It's like F-16 vs. F-15 in the last generation. F-15 wins.

Here's the real news. Before they said F-22 restart was a NON-STARTER.

Now COngress has ordered Lockheed to study the possibility!! That's great people!!

The thing that makes the F22 special is its aerodynamic performance with twin engine power. The avionics are old. However, If we used the engines and avionics from the F35, and put them into the F22, it would be a next gen fighter. I say we order 500 of them, with 500 F22B aircraft.

The F35 was a mistake for the Navy and Air Force, it is a good plane for the Marines. What is needed from President Trump, is the restart of the F-22, FB-22 program. The F-22 is going to need to be able to launch from a carrier.
>>
>>71603601
F22 and F35 are both 5th gen

F22 being in 5th gen is comparable to the F15 being in 4th gen. The F35 being in 5th gen is comparable to F18 and F16 being in 4th gen.

>F35 is sort of like a 4.5
Jesus christ, no. Both are 5th.
The F-35 is the most advanced aircraft in the world, even more than the F-22. The difference is that the F-22 has a better stealth profile along with better kinematic (dogfighting) capabilities. The F-35's stealth isn't as good as the F-22 (barely makes a difference though), but it has better avionics like radar and sensor fusion. It also has built-in electro-optical targeting systems.
>>71604201
FB-22 is not the proposed Navy variant, that's the F-22N. Even then, I think you're trying to say F-22B. Which would be fucking pointless, the Navy needs a strike fighter capable of going long distances. The F-35C has a combat radius of 630nmi, the F-14D had 500. F-35C is the best plane the Navy could have asked for.

There are advantages to a single-engine design. You get better acceleration, reduce weight, reduce cost, reduce maintenance costs, etc. The only downside is reduced maximum thrust. Thankfully, the F-35's single engine is mega-powerful so the drawbacks are mitigated.

Single-engine is actually higher reliability because if you have two engines that doubles the odds of an explosion occurring. Also, it has been known for a long time that single-engine fighters have a lower top speed (because of lower maximum thrust) but have better acceleration. A single-engine is also more fuel-efficient. There are definitely drawbacks but there are many advantages as well.

All of our greatest fighter planes have been single engine ones, the twin-engine planes always seem to have more issues.
>>
>>71607940
Nice spelling Mohammad
>>
>>71607857

Fact: there is not a single recorded instance of a double engine jet fighter losing an engine and making it home with just one engine.

>it will be more cost effective if we run it for the next 40 years
It will be obsolete in a decade. The MIC will lobby for it to be spread around the world through arms deals and then they'll turn around and say we need a new cutting edge fighter to keep ourselves at the top. And it'll only cost us good goys twice as much as the bloated F35 program.

It's what they've been doing for decades. Our old as fuck cold war tech is more than capable of blasting dune coons and that's all we've been doing since the 90s. Total fucking sham.
>>
>>71601545
Nice. We'll take 40 or so.
>>
>>71601716
theyre two completely different planes, for completely different purposes. Under the f35 plan, f22s and f18s would be kept to support the f35s.

do some research canada pls

Why bother? It's not like it was any less of a piece of shit than the F-35

F-35 is a forced jack of all trades. Can do everything, but exceeds at nothing. Thank the Marines, it's because of them that it ended up being single engine a with pointless VTOL.

this
The F22 owns but the F35 is just badly thought out. Especially considering not a lot of countries actually have more than two carriers.

Shit, Canada is buying a whole fleet of the things and we literally don't have any carriers at all, nor any intentions to build one! What the fuck!?

Really the airforce should be just F-22s, FB-22s, B-21s, C17s, KC46s. Everything else needs to be retired.
>>

are you trying to be retarded? Only one of the f35 variants is specifically for carriers, do at least 5 seconds of research before posting ffs

The F-22s technology at this point is 30 years old, there is more advanced stuff out there and other countries have it.

They can't see the bacon when they're up in the air in their SU30s, that's the problem. C'mon, anglobro, we need the a2a edge on them. Think of all the American workers it will keep in the factories for the time our extra 40 will take to build. We will keep them at Darwin, you can even have your guys keep an eye on them at the airbase we gave you up there.
>>
>>71607026
STOVL was designed specifically for marine use at "austere" bases where a full length runway is impossible to maintain or not available.

there is still the 'regular' f35a variant, which no one seems to understand
>>
>>71611415
You don't understand! F22s are better!

All the new planes are full of computers are glitchy and slow and built for too fucking many different types of missions and they are expensive and lame

PILOTS LOVE F22s

BECAUSE THEY ROCK

Not an argument. Technology does not stop progressing and that certainly isn't the case with the F-22. New aircraft and upgrades have been emerging. The only "new plane" you are referring to is the F-35 anyway. The F-22 is completely controlled by computers too.

Australia got involved in the development.
Had the stealth paint tinted fag pink.
Painted silhouette of blow fish on the nose
Failed reverse thrust engines to get out of trouble faster.
Insisted on "surrender package" automatic firing of white flag with sparklers.
Set delivery back by 10 years

Its amazing to think that the F22 was developed in the late, eighties to early ninties, pretty much during the era of the brick phones and cassete players. I just wonder what a 6th gemeration fighter jet would look like if it was developed today.
