That being said, the only argument for gun control I've ever heard is the fact that suicide, something I don't like very much, is made much easier with a gun. People will still attempt, but they will fail much more without a gun, and those who fail a first suicide attempt have a staggeringly low rate of attempting a second time.

First of all, we are allowed to own weapons and it is in our constitution. We can't carry them, we can only have a certain caliber and all guns need to be registered in Mexico city.
If you do decide to go the illegal way, you are open to serious trouble. Carrying an unlicensed weapon or a weapon reserved for military use (basically anything not hand guns) carries steep charges in Mexico. You are caught with one and you are legally fucked, as if in the US you were caught with 10 lbs of the finest Colombian coke.
Also, who moves around these illegal weapons around? If you are going to be asking for a weapon from a drug trafficker, you are basically getting involved with very dangerous people. The companies that sell 80% lowers sell the jigs and guides for them. If you can scrape up some cash and just get a small table top milling machine, it would be a great learning experience for you. Just do some reading, watch some videos, take your time, and you could totally do it. Personally, I got VERY lucky, and my dad use to be a maintence manager at a factory. So I was VERY fortunate to have access to a Bridgeport mill, and had him show me how to use it, and he had all of the toolings.
But, a small mill can be had for a reasonable price, and since you're going to be milling aluminum, it will be pretty easy. Have confidence anon. If you mess your first one or two up, so what. I had a very minor blemish on the first one I did ( didn't have the tool set correctly, and it rubbed a non-essential part off ), but it was still VERY VERY close to mil-spec, and works great.
