So, what it really comes down to in the states is that mortgages are relatively easy to acquire for housing.
Without a surplus of houses being created, all this effectively does is bid up the prices of existing houses as people are now willing to pay a higher premium for them with their borrowed money.
To make it even worse, even if there was a surplus of house production meeting the standards of the individuals in the market more so than money being lent out to buy houses, this would bid up the price of houses in good locations.
