ITT: Shit baby boomers say

>I bought my house for $60,000 and absolutely refuse to sell it for anything less than 1.2 million!
>>
>Can't afford anything? Back in my day I got a manufacturing job straight out of high school and could support a family of 4!
>>
>1983 Corvette. No engine or tranny. Needs to be painted. Blinker fluid is out. $95,000. I know what I got.
>>
>Savings account? I don't need to pay for my retirement, young people do!
>>
Back In my day I paid for school working minimum wage!

>tuition was only $400
>>
>My high school education that got me a cush job that I kept for forty years and let me stop learning new things entitles me to complicated, self-serving and always correct ideas about how the world works! Even in geopolitics!
>>
> Why can't you find a job that supports you and a family out of school? All college kids were filthy rich in my day
>>
>>71578203
>40 year mortgage? Yes please!

And yet, people buy it.

That means they're right, and you aren't.

Why don't millennials understand the value of money?

i have a 4 year degree in finance and there are literally 20 people applying for every job that's available. Work 70 hours a week for 50k a year. May as well just shoot myself.
>>
>>71579944
I don't even know what this really means. I was told this when I turned 30 and didn't have a wife and kids. I'ts not like I didn't want that life. Maybe they should of found me a wife or lent me that money for a deposit on a house when I was 25 instead of going to Hawaii for a month.

The funny thing is people don't buy it. On various forums (watches, guns, cars, whatever) the sales area looks like this:

thrown in when someone dares to ask for a couple hundred off.

This still makes me quite uncomfortable.

When it comes to working my dad works so insanely slow. When it comes to working in a team, he's very stubborn and just does his own thing. When it comes to technology - absolute mess. Yet he's a manager at Rabobank and earns a very high salary I just can't get my head around it.

It isn't just my dad who is like this a lot of boomers have very little skills compared to younger people yet they earn a lot more.

Yeah, same here. I just don't hold out much hope.

>You understand that the whole idea of social security was that YOU pay into YOUR future.
>Then fucking Reagan borrowed from it and never payed it back. So now it's just a Ponzi scheme.

Sorry but you don't know the history of SS, if you think this.

A lower court of appeals ruled that SS was unconstitutional because, as it promoted specific welfare instead of general welfare, it violated the 10th amendment. So Roosevelt argued to his stacked supreme court that the SS tax had nothing at all to do with the benefits. He argued that SS tax was just a revenue source for general governance.

And that's exactly how it was treated. SS ran a "surplus" for decades but there was no bank account into which any money was going. Every cent was spent.

Reagan's "borrowing" just reduced the technical "surplus" that had built up. But he didn't actually take any money from SS. There IS NO money in SS.

And now, instead of the 160~ workers for every SS beneficiary, we have about 3 workers. Soon, we'll have 2. And it already now pays out more than it takes in.

It was ALWAYS a ponzi scheme. It was always fucked and soon, it will come crashing down.

What the government will probably do is print money to inflate their problems away while fudging the CPI so SS benefits don't go up with that inflation.

To be fair I've met and have even received on the job training and advice from Boomers, several of whom have acknowledged that they are leaving behind a world worse off then it was.

The generation is without a doubt the worst, though.

At least the worst elements of our generation don't have the political clout that boomers did, and are getting the wake up call alot fucking sooner than the Boomers did as this country circles the drain

I think millennials will be alright, once more enter the workforce they will become disillusioned with the safe spaces Marxist professors told them to embrace. And once they pay taxes and their student loan debt they'll realize they actually need to work (I believe gibsmedats will be in the minority)

They know nothing about economics, all their politics are currently based on social issues which is why so many vote liberal.

This is the most educated generation we've had, we'll figure it out.

I have a mild advantage, if it can be called an advantage.
I grew up with no dad, and my mom made only $19,000 a year. I have a job where I make $35,000 a year, and I feel perfectly satisfied. Instead of feeling screwed, I feel happy knowing I make more than my mother did, and that I live a life of (relative) luxury compared to what I grew up with. Once, as a kid, we lived in a trailer where the roof and floor was collapsing, the water and gaslines had to be shut off, the power lines were shit, it was like 500 square feet, and now I live in a nice, 1000 square foot home.
I'm satisfied with myself. But then there's all these entitled faggots who grew up in a nice suburb, where everything was sunshine and rainbows. And now that they're adults, they're screwed.

Millenials have seen their families wealth erode year after year with their parents don't knowing what to do, isn't a surprise if they are on social issues. Gen Z is another pain in the ass since they represent the full social media idiocy, but still they are far more educated to new market strategies and will be useful for economic growth if milleanials have the balls to take the lead.
>>
>>71591621

The problem isn't that parents don't know what to do with it, the problem is that they're fucking greedy. There are few things that piss me off more than seeing some grey haired Baby Boomer in a convertible, knowing that he probably is leaving his kids with a huge college debt and few job prospects.

In the Eastern Eu and Japan, I worked with several older people, think pre-boomer generation folk. Why? Because they had not enough pension. So it was not just the latter, but previous generations as well who got fucked, imo.
>>
My parents and grandparents were immigrants. My parents taught me not to fall for the academic jew, and put me through a small state school while I worked part time (starting at age 15) to afford a car, books, test fees, spending money, and investing money. They taught me how to handle money and I in turn learned more about investing and saving than they do, and now I help them manage their retirement accounts and savings as they get ready to retire in the next decade. I'm also starting graduate school for free at a top university outside of the country, and if I weren't and were staying here, my dad would help me buy a house to either rent or live in, because we take care of each other and he has a lot more saved up than I do.

Are your parents all really this shitty? What the fuck is wrong with them that they let you take out 5 figures of loans and then don't teach you your elbow from your asshole?

>mom constantly nagging me to get a job
>one morning, "hey anon lets go job hunting today. be ready in 10 minutes to go out, i'll drive you around"
>we go to fucking everywhere, lube shops, pizza places, restaurants, bakery, retail
>we arrive at the first place "ok anon, go ask for the manager and give him/her a firm handshake, speak up, look them in the eyes and let them know you really want to work!"
>"alright mom whatever you say"
>i actually go in and do this, i come out at the end of the day with literally 3 applications after 20 places, the rest said apply online
>mom is getting angry irrationally that i haven't got apps, she thinks i'm lying, and just walking out without apps in spite
>every single time i asked for the manager (except the dollar store) they other employees said they "don't do face to face or interview until applications have been handed in or you've been called once you apply online
>we get to the last place
>mom parks the car
>"mom i think this should be the last one, i know you're eager to get me out of the house, but i have to work twice as hard, twice as long for two times less purchasing power than you did in 1970. if you're gonna be mad at someone, be mad at the government or some shit. we could have stayed home and saved on gas"
>tfw thats the day i turned my mum into a traditionalist
>so i go into this last place, its kohl's, end up getting a job there work for 1 year or so
>selling shoes, one day manager asks me to help her rack some clothes in the toddler area
>"hey anon can you help me in the stock room and hold the door open for me"
>we go into the stock room, long story short she jokingly makes sex noises
>im uber beta cuck, she bumps up against me accidentally on her way out the door
>she comes back in and pops the thumb lock on stockroom door
>she rubs hands on my stomach and slips them into my khaki's (kohl's dress code kek)

Why are you shitting on baby boomers? They are objectively more conservative on race, gender, and everything else you guys hate. They even had higher testosterone levels. A nigger who accidently walked into a white neighborhood got his ass pulverized

>Kohl's
>management
>exactly the kind of job that boomers take after they retire from their original job
