Anything below 2000 calories for an extended period of time is unhealthy. You only go lower than that if you're trying to lose weight. But if you're on it for too long, like say for example doing forced labor in a concentration camp, you're being starved to death.

It is clear that there has been propaganda and exaggeration around the concentration camps. The most convincing thing I have seen posted is that the western powers found no death camps, but the Soviets did.
My best guess is that Mengele's experiments probably happened, and that the Nazis did consider Jews to be scum and subhuman and not worthy of great effort to maintain alive.
The camps were likely Andersonville level hellholes which would account for plenty of deaths to make a holocaust, though not likely 6 million.
