If you take alcohol while properly depressed, it will make you feel even worse, and possibly trigger some dark thoughts, which might lead you to do horrible things to people you never thought yourself capable of. If you take pot while depressed, it will help, as long as you don't overuse it.
4. It's not the same thing. 90% of people in white culture drink. Less than half of them smoke pot, and that number used to be even lower, so famous people who openly smoke pot are more noticeable than famous people who drink, which is about 100% of them.
5. 18+ potheads don't normally do this. Stop hanging out with kids, and if you must, stop letting them smoke pot, it causes long-term damage in adolescents or younger.
All in all, the rule of thumb for pretty much any drug or otherwise guilty pleasure you might have is: it's a treat, not part of the routine. So it's OK if you get high for weekends, for example, but do it three or more times a week, it will fuck you up.
