Republican primary voters tend to be more conservative than the general population and aren't a good indicator of who the American people would actually elect. The sort of retarded views you have to hold to get any traction within the Republican party are exactly the sort of views that hurt you in the general election.
That said, Trump will have an easier time in the general election than people like Ted Cruz because he can disregard most of the Republican social positions and spend most of his time talking economics, security, and immigration.
If Republicans are going to survive as a party, they need to dump evangelical social conservatives. Abortion and Gay Marriage are fucking losing issues for Republicans and they continue to be held hostage by people who think the earth is 6000 years old, that evolution isn't real, and that gay and lesbian couples are destroying the country. Millennial voters that would be very receptive to Republican economic positions are going to continue to get older and be more reliable at voting. There isn't any indication that they will be moving to the right on these issues as they age. As long as the the Republican party courts bible-thumping retards, they aren't going to get the support of voters that they desperately need.

If so, based on 2008 numbers, Trump would should expect to get ~3.1mil votes in new york state general to hillary's ~3.9mil. Those estimates based on primary turnout as a precentage of general turnout using 2008's percentages.
And accounting for the things like Clinton's unfavoribility, bernie supporters who will not vote for her, Trump's black supporters, etc. I would say trump takes the state in the general election.
