well, that is their problem for the UDI to be out of touch with the public, which creates a lot of the social problems in the country. People pay too much taxes and the value of property is way too expensive for the middle class. Commies always blame the rich of all of their problems, but a big amount of the population hates the commies too, so they have to go with communist light mentality.

Now Pinochet did some good things for the Chilean economy. He introduced needed neo-liberal reforms into the economy by forced means without having to deal with the bullshit you would normally hear in a democratic state. But even than he still greatly mishandled large portions of the economy and the 1982 debt crisis and recession can easily be traced back to him and some of his Chicago boys dumb ideas. He's done some good, as probably any dictator does, but also has a good many mistakes.

Pinochet is mostly celebrated because he put down a Communist takeover. There are very few right-wing victories in the 20th century. His economic policies were of course better than Allandes, but he was not a genious statesman in any regard. He just had the balls to pull off the coup.

Yeah, Pinochet proved that force works. Also that the entire system of democracy actually is the left. Just see how cuckservatives abolishes themselves to serve the interest of the left.

There is some criticism about him being somewhat dependent on the approval of the US which is true, but what nation aside from the Soviet bloc and China was really independent at that time?

>>71482873
I am an Austro-Mercantilist.
>>
>>71482873
American Imperialism is more complex then just economic policy. A good portion of it is a leftist meme to make Americans look like evil conquerors. Part of it is the success of American media and our hegemonic cultural influence which many countries resent but don't stop themselves from consuming. Part is our control of major international financial institutions like the world bank.

I don't think anyone mainstream in American politics is a Keynesian, most are neo-liberals and monetarists. FDR and the new deal are the best examples of Keynesian policy.

>Allende was elected fair and square, Pinochet didn't have any right to organize a coup.
It goes both ways my retarded friend, but I'll explain it to you.

Our landowner's, back then, were just a bunch of lazy and ignorant pieces of shit. Or basically "Huasos".
Those huasos didn't use their land in a proper way. And for the most part of the 60's, way before than Allende's, the government started to expropiate(?) those lands and only those lands that weren't being used properly. This was done for the common good of the country. Not for the right wing, not for the left wing, not for the commies or anyone, just for the common good.
The only problem was that Allende in 2 years, expropiated 15 million acre. Meanwhile, in the last 10 years, the government only expropiated 8.5 million acre.

tl;dr: If you aren't useful, you are a liability. No better than niggers. The only problem was that Allende went full "lawful chaotic", when he should had been a lot more cautious.
>>

Here is some data on real GDP per capita growth rates of some Latin American countries. Pinochet was in power from 1973 to 1990. During the period from 1981 to 2002 Chile maintained a high growth rate while most of Latin America was stagnating or shrinking. This is due to Chile having a Unique economic policy among South American nations enacted by Pinochet and his advisors. Notice how Venezuela shrinks by 1.3% despite its wealth of oil, Leftist ran in into the ground.

- Destroyed the public education. Now we have a bunch of schools that are good for nothing. Our kids are learning less everyday, and teachers lost their utility to our society.
- Destroyed the old retirement system, but only for the civil population. The army, navy and police forces still retire under the old (and better) system.
- Privatized the health system. This might be seen as a good or as a bad thing. For middle class families, it is the worst thing ever. For lower class families, sometimes is good sometimes is bad.
- Stole as much as he could. Millions of dollars and contracts for his wife and family.

>During the period from 1981 to 2002 Chile maintained a high growth rate while most of Latin America was stagnating or shrinking.

No, no, no, look at the 1960 to 1980 interval. Chile's growth is way lower than the other Latin American countries... This really feels like a myth man you're not helping your case

Yes. Let's show how from 1982 to 2002 mantained a high growth rate, instead of saying that from 1982 to 1990 (last year of Pinochet dictatorship) the GDP went from 2420 USD to 2542 USD and when the left government took the country 1990 until 2002 the GDP went from 2717 to 4572.

If you want something fair (because 8 years aren't equal to 12)
When Pinochet became a traitor to Chile (73) until Aylwin rose to power (90) the GDP went from 1750 USD to 2717 USD.
That's 13 years.
From 1990 until 2003, the GDP went from 2717 USD to 5139. And from 2003 to 2013 it went from 5139 USD to 16379 USD.

So yeah, in the raw numbers, Pinochet still is a piece of shit.

>economic policies work instantly
Changing the structure of an economy takes years if not decades to have an effect. Pinochet first needed to stabilize the economy, which was in a state of chaos because of Allende nationalizing major industries like copper and seizing land to create collective farms. Pinochet didn't actually implement his policies until the second half of the 1970's and the effects took years to be felt. However the real success story is that he managed to excede the average global growth rate in the 1980's while the rest of Latin America has not only ground to a standstill but was actually SHRINKING. Its hard to stress how much you need to fuck up in order to shrink an economy while at peace and not embargoed by a large number of countries.

Also shit, most people in the shitty old system got way below the minimum wage back then, it's just that leftard believe it was awesome now. And the system of the armed forces is a huge waste of money, fuck it too.

Look at Hans's numbers Burger. Even though the economy was shrinking before Pinochet went in after he got out the economy still shrank and only after all that it rose again. So: there's no way of saying he fucked up the econ but he sure as fuck didn't made a miracle. There was no miracle, sorry

It was goo back then. Kids used to respect the teachers
>But the leftists are the only ones that say this
False. The UMCE was a craddle for real teachers before the 73, now is just a nest for weed lovers.

>Also shit, most people in the shitty old system got way below the minimum wage back then, it's just that leftard believe it was awesome now. And the system of the armed forces is a huge waste of money, fuck it too.

THEY WENT BELOW THE MINIMUM WAGE BECAUSE PEOPLE DIDNT USED TO SAVE THE REQUIRED AMOUNTS.
People always saved the minimum. Sometimes they didn't even saved. With the new work laws, using the old retirement system, it would grant you about the same of your average salary.

In the end, he got what he deserved. If you ever visit Stockholm, see his place of death, there is a huge staircase that the murderer used to escape the scene. About five stories high. The main suspect was a hobo that was extremely intoxicated, he likely had more alcohol than blood on his veins and were in extremely shitty physical shape. This guy is supposed to be able to execute Palme with one shot and then run up the staircase, most people here are sure that the security services physically removed Palme because of the policies on the nationalization of our industry that his government was enacting.

Most Chileans I've met hate him

not because he killed leftists though. from what they told me he changed chile's government in such a way that you can only get a public job by inheriting it. for example the national copper mining company where many executives earn over 100k USD a year while most of the country can't even make 1/4th of that, when you apply you have to show documentation proving you're blood related to someone already working there

I mean no one can predict what might have been with 100 accuracy but leftists seem to think that Chile would have ended up like the "democratic socialist" nations of Europe, all the actual evidence says it was heading toward becoming the next Cuba or Venezuela

He is a former libertarian, now he is a royalist / reactionary. He still likes freedumbs and all that, but he recognizes that libertarianism is impossible to implement, because it has no praxeology on war or power.

Mostly, he thinks that the current ruling bureaucrat class is retarded and fucking up everything. He made up his own government as a stock-owned corporation, but later abandoned it because it is a retarded idea.

I do think that he is leaning much more classically reactionary these days. Thomas Carlyle is still pretty much his God.

When you have the whole productive force against the government, is hard to fight against a shrinking economy.

Allende just tried to kill as many birds as he could.

Is the same that Bachelet was doing, but, Bachelet didn't went full retard as Allende did.

The only good thing you've about the public education is that brats used to respect the teachers? Yeah, that is the only one.
Remember, most theachers were 19 years old that just left the school ("marmicoc" teachers, doesn't it sound cute?), even in Santiago. Very few of them ever went to the Pedagogico.

And no, most people save the very minimun because they have less money to waste it in garbage like going to the stadium to see fixed games or going to some shithole in summer, they also believe that saving money for old age is useless because they won't have their money back.
Sorry, but I won't support welfare queens.
