Because multicultural societies are a contradiction which inevitably leads to distrust, a political dialogue dominated by tension, accusations of oppression, and eventually violence.
But this is only the immediate concern. The bigger concern is that a society like this is incapable of ruling democratically, because the 'will of the people' is now a convenient fiction, and the narrative is dominated by racial/cultural tension. There has been a steady transfer of power from regional governments, that at least in principle represent the will of the people, to un-elected, untouchable, financial giants whose individual power/influence is on par with a country. They will take advantage of this situation to seize more power.
