Yes in socialist countries like mine. The amount should be enough to cover housing and food, not anything above that. Something like 600-700€ in Finland would work fine (much less than neets have for free atm). Basic income would make any job (including part-time jobs) tempting and it would be good for small businesses. It is the only social benefit in these kind of countries that would serve everyone as of now.
Ofc if one had a decent job, he would be taxed more so the basic income would actually be only for neets and poorfags without the absurdly huge bureaucracy draining our tax money.

Without the externally applied pressure to provide a living for oneself, laziness and sloth will take over in the vast majority of humanity causing society to degrade and (taken to the extreme) eventually collapse.
Fact is, most people are always looking for a way to avoid personal responsibility. This becomes easier as technology advances.
Perhaps it will become necessary in the future to gradually shift a large swath of the population into total dependency on the state. It doesnt have the problems of communism: taking the labor/resources from one person to give to another, and a massive government.
If a country saved a certain amount of taxed dollars to completely pay off the creation of robots to farm,build, etc basic income would make a lot of sense.

There is a caveat to that bible quote. It is those UNWILLING to work, not those not working. It is certainly against the present entitlement mindset of being "owed" what you do not work for.
I am in favor of universal basic income IF the amount is equal to the bare minimum for survival, i.e. cheep food and a cardboard box, at most being an apartment + running water + food. If UBI is a "livable wage" or enough to be comfortable then incentive to work goes out the window. That said, replacing all the existing welfare, food stamps, reduced meals, etc. with UBI would definitely be a plus. Without incentive there will be no one to pull the cart, leading to a total collapse and reset.

No it doesn't. The idea of UBI is everyone receives it no matter what, in this graph though they are showing UBI being offset by the amount of taxes you pay. That "sweet spot" is basically you getting your UBI which is then funneled right back as a tax. There is never a time where you do not make more by working verses not working unless the tax system is messed up, i.e. no one has to pay taxes until they make X amount. In the graph though taxes start to be payed at the 1st dollar made (represented as a decrease in UBI).
As long as taxes are flat and/or smooth instead of spiky (like our current tax brackets), there wouldn't be an issue.

what we need is for H1B visas to be made illegal and more jobs created so that this is no longer an employers market and labor has value again. With no H1B's and job availability so high that you could actually employ everyone and employers are actually scrambling to buy your labor, then all these stupid "Entry level job, bachelor's degree and 5+ years experience required" requirements will go away.
Then everyone can have jobs and people will stop pushing for more socialism and shit like UBI.
But as it stands now, not everyone can get employment because it's an employers market, they ask for ridiculous requirements and when they can't fill them they hire an H1B visa from the Philippines or India for less money than an American worker would ask for.
