I don't think it is just /pol/, it is the internet in general. I also don't think we are naturally like this.
I remember the first time I saw someone get killed violently on the internet (Mexican cartel chainsaw video). That scared the shit out of me at the time. But when I went on the internet more and more and saw more of those things, my reactions to it got less extreme and eventually I just stopped caring because I was so used to seeing videos like that.
The internet has desensitized all of us, even those who don't go on /pol/. It creates too much of a barrier between people and people start to not realize that the person they see on their screen was an actual person rather to just some guy in a video. But I guarantee you, once you get off the internet, you will probably go back to normal and become less desensitized. I'm just not sure if I'm ready for that drastic change yet.
Probably the only upside to all of this is that we would all probably be great soldiers since we've seen the horrors of war through eyes of the internet.
