AGHHH the picture gave me cancer. No, any responsible parent/adult cannot let a child even touch a weapon (same goes for people without gun safety course). There is no reason for them to have one or use one. They will have enough time to enjoy guns once they grow up a bit more.

Depends on the individual. I think only NYC and California have laws about storing ammo and firearms separately. Most states have some form of castle doctrine and so long as you're not booby trapping your house you can do whatever.
People use semiautos, shotguns, handguns, MP5s, it really comes down to the individual and what they're the most comfortable with.
