You have to remember that leftists believe in "systems of oppression" effectively making anyone of a more "oppressed" group immune to criticism from anyone higher on the totem pole.
Case in point: Immigrants aren't responsible for raping women in Cologne en masse. Rather, you have to find the highest common denominator that is higher on the totem pole, and criticize that instead: the only traits that those rapists had that were higher on the societal scale is that they were men, ergo, you are only justified in criticizing them as "men", because migrants and Muslims are more oppressed than women.

Whether that is true or false it is the WORST view to have.
Think of it this way: neo-imperialism is blamed for everything from Syria to all the problems in Africa.
People do it for some politically correct notion. But ultimately it is more racist than anything. Because the more you blame the west, the more you say that the rest of the world lives at our whims as if we are adults and they are children.
When you treat people like children you get no where. These people are actors in their own right, with agency.
Take colonialism - you can see it as oppressors/oppressed. But many native people would ally themselves with colonial regimes against other cultures and other groups. These people were actors with their own agendas. We didn't make ideologies of ISIS for example. That was born of Islam and their own people.

Islam has gone through expansionism and contraction and in fighting. It is quite cyclic.
The Ottomons grew quite decadent and their Empire slowly crumbled during the 19th century. Man European nations meddled in its affairs.
But most of radical Islam in the modern form was created out of this contraction. Saudi Arabia exported its radicals. Many countries would use radical Islam and then export it as it was a destablizing influence.
If Saudis did not export it, then we would not be seeing the exact same issues we have now.

Other nations that were victims of colonialism bounced back from it and found a way to live their lives. Armies were a single part of a tapestry. From diplomacy to economics.
Africa is not one homogenous group of people. It has various religions, tribes and cultures. Many groups would even ally with us to fight another group.
The idea of out and out oppression is a myth.
Look at Zimbabwe - it was the bread basket of Africa. Mugabe has stayed in power blaming the west - yet the reason why Zimbabwe needs aid rather than produce its own food is the result of his policies.
I would concede that colonialism has had issues. But ultimately it is not the intrinsic blame for all their problems.
Cultures existed before colonialism and after. The situation is more complex - just like slavery wasn't white guys enslaving people. It was complex - one tribe enslaves another and sells them to white people. That is more complicated than the believed narrative that white people enslave blacks.
But the simple view has more political traction.

The problem with Eddy isn't his ability to learn but his pride and laziness.
He never attempted to help and often worked with his fellow Africans to fuck over his boss. He helped perpetuate the problems in there time and again.
