They asked for thousands of Euros and cite some judges who basically fucked torrenters in the ass to scare you. Then they give you some paper to sign which basically says you wont do it again and fine you about 900 or so.
The lawyer can alter that document so you can sign it without EVER acknowledging guilt, and bartered the amount down to 200 in my case. Paid about 20€ per month which was A-OK.
They just look for a quick buck, not to actually go through the hassle of dragging you before a judge. Don't fucking ignore the letter though. Even with a lawyer fee you will pay way less what they asked.

1. Rent a virtual server outside of fucking germany. Preferably in a country that does not sue people for downloading. I recommend Russia, it is relatively close to germany so no speed issues and we don't sue people for torrents yet.
2. Install a torrent client with web interface, I recommend qbittorrent, if you don't know how to do it there are lots of guides for dummies.
3. You type address of your server in your browser, enter login and password and see pretty GUI, same as if you have installed a program on your pc.
4. Add a torrent file or magnet link, just as you do now.
5. Server will download the file. Kikes will see IP of the server in the peer list. They can't do shit as it is located outside of germany and EU.

Use a VPN server in a country that has strict privacy laws, like Zwitserland or Virgin Islands.

they use torrent to check whether your IP is uploading the movie, which you typically are if you download it. Then they get your name through the IP provider - they do that for thousands of people per week, select those most likely to afford payment. Then send out letters.
They actually love you to not react, because then they can get a judgment against you in court, increasing their lawyers' fees. They hate when you react and offer to settle. Under German law, a reasonable offer to settle cannot just be dismissed, otherwise the plaintiff ends up having to cover court fees and their own lawyers, even if they win + your expenses and potential lawyers' fees.
If you claim someone else used your IP, the law says that you are resonsible for an unsecured open wifi network. If you say, even though the IP address was logged that you didndu nuffin, a court will highly likely hold for the plaintiff unless you have some ironclad proof you really didn't do shit.
These cases (tens of thousands per year) are discussed ad nauseum on German message boards. It is an unfortunate effect of very friendly laws for IP infringement enforcement.

That would be a pretty enormous amount of data to store. Generally with any VPN you're protected just due to the fact that there is going to be so many subscribers that it would be impossible for them to log everything everyone is doing. They won't be actively decrypting torrent data coming in so they would have to store it as is in order to know what you're doing, and the number of users using PIA makes that incredibly unlikely.
