In the right co text modern architecture can be cool but I think way to many architects are focused on being avantgaurd instead of building livable spaces.
Livable spaces can be modern or traditional, the the entire design world needs to get back to designing buildings to be pleasant and useful and contextual not as a way of showing off how fucking original you are.

We have entered an era where our skyscraper building technology grants us formidable ability, but in the hands of Muslims and Asians it has become an affront to the rest of the world.
They continually build supertall (300m+) skyscrapers throughout the Middle East and China, all the while using slave labor and substandard materials, in order to give the impression that they're not just civilized, but actually more advanced than their western rivals. It's a joke when you see the gaudy pieces of garbage going up in Dubai and elsewhere. Every time another one bursts into flames, I feel genuinely amused.
Pic related, the tallest building in the world is going up in Jeddah. Known as "Kingdom Tower" it will stand at over 1000m. This thing is going, in the most literal sense of the word, into a field of sand dunes surrounded by mud brick houses. It's totally obnoxious, but the Arabs will run around thinking they're gods because they built it.
Chinese and Middle eastern cities will never be able to express the maturity of western cities. That juxtaposition of new and old, skyscrapers of decades past nestled amongst one another.
If you want the absolute most offensive disgusting, piece of shit, anti-/pol/ building in existence, look up the 1900 foot Makkah clock tower.

Anyway I think Dubai is alright, I stayed in Dubai for a weekend to visit my uncle who has an importing business and other than that ghastly road lined with sky scrapers, downtown dubai which is where the Burk Khalifa is located looks alright.

I brought it up and we had to pay quite a lot of money to get a proper electrician to rewire the renovated part of the office.

It's really hard to fix roads up here, the winters pretty much fuck up the roads completely and the short summer is spent doing as many repairs as you can before winter comes again except they never get them all and it's mostly quick patching jobs.
Also Canadians are assholes, we all complain when the roads are closed for repairs and we all complain when they aren't fixed. We are never satisfied with anything.

Designers are so fucking insane, there is literally no reason to be occupying that space as a pedestrian, they're completely delusional if they think this is what it will look like.

Some projects are too sensitive to build ghastly modern stuff.
Pic related is a hospital village complex plan. In it will be people of a frail nature, and so understandly the architecture is traditional in style and earnestly trying to be nice. It isn't great architecture, but it has been designed by a modernist group that normally builds ugly soulless trash.

not only does this abomination look bad, it leaks!! the problem with using glass in Canada in poor insulation. The original design was not only far more beautiful but is a better functioning building. This is a new head office for a credit union in the city I live in, they think its clever but it is the total opposite. Well its their money I guess they can waste it, I cant say the same for the government funded library monstrosity.
