Poland had occupied their land after ww1 and part of the German territory was broken away from the other, split by occupied land.
Hitler wanted an extraterritorial land bridge, and after the war, a referendum for the german people to vote if they wanted to rejoin Germany or not.
Totally reasonable war goals, Poland had no right in that land in the fist place.

Hitler was in negotiation with Poland. They both were about to agree that germany gets old clay back. Old polish leader died and the new one said "fuck you germany".
Hitler did some more negotiation and just asked for autobahn or trainline to danzig. They just wanted a corridor to connect germany to danzig.
Poland said "no" was still killing germans, jews and all what wasn't polish. They killed germans even on german ground at the border to provoke us.
Poland thought it was mighty empire and could defeat germany in under 2 weeks. They felt untouchable because britain and france backed them.
