I'm new to this site, however I have been following human rights and Freedom of Expression for a long time...
I want to bring up the Australian government and it's treatment of refugees in its, appalling named, 'detention' centres (which are more like ww2 POW camps but without the torture).
For years, now, the Australian government has been sentencing humans of all ages (even children under 10) to a life in prison for trying to find asylum in this western country we call home. It is know known that the Australian government has not only denied previous peace treaties, signed with the UN and NATO, but it has also completely gone against the ICCPR (The International Convention for Civil and Political Rights).
The Australian government is getting away with, surreptitious, murder as no one will stand up to them and it is time that they were made to answer for these crimes. Crimes that are costing human lives. Can we stand up?!

If you read International law, you would know that the right to Asylum only applies to persons under immediate threat of active persecution if they were to stay in their countries. Certain journalists, academics, politicians, etc.
It doesn't mean brown people from shitholes of their own making looking to profit from our societies can just waltz on in. Just because your country is generally shit doesn't give you a free ticket to ours. Western countries just chose to interpret the law far too liberally for ulterior reasons, and the EU especially has overly generous asylum laws of its own that go far beyond the necessary requirements of international law.
So even if their countries are repressive hellholes, we still wouldn't be obliged to take them in unless it's absolutely certain they'd die if they remained and there was no way for them to avoid death. Japan gets criticized for its tough interpretation of the law, but they do not breach any rules and are thus not sanctioned. Same goes for other non-cucked countries.
