It was great to hear Hitler's take on the mass immigration, but again the film is very strong liberal propaganda. On the one hand you had the straightforward "the media will do anything for ratings, even support a Hitler character" and "the public will lap everything up" agenda, but on the other hand you had a very sympathetic portrayal of Hitler, showing him to be an intelligent (though slightly mad) and sympathetic person. Either the author secretly likes Hitler to some degree, or he thought that his audience would be so cucked they would instinctively despise him.

The movie's portrayal felt oddly sympathetic to me, too. There were a couple of scenes with obligatory evil nazi stuff, but for the most part, Hitler was pretty relatable and his comments about the modern day rang true. It made me wonder if the author was somewhat fond of Hitler, and how were they even allowed to make this movie.
I think the movie was supposed to end on a grim note, warning people about the banality of evil, charismatic leaders and mob mentality. The message seemed to be that it's frighteningly easy to get carried away without realizing that you're slipping into the dark side.
But everything Hitler had been saying throughout the movie was so spot-on that I couldn't help feeling like the ending was full of hope for change, for a better future. I assume the audience was supposed to feel uneasy and horrified about feeling sympathy for a person who's considered to be infamously evil. But the reality subtext they inserted (comparing today's migrants to WWII era jews) didn't help convey that message at all, it just made me feel like Europe's in peril and needs a visionary leader again.
Also, I was surprised that so many Germans reacted so positively to a guy cosplaying as Hitler. I thought all that de-nazification since WWII would've removed any sympathy for him. The creators of the movie apparently found the response alarming. But I think it's kind of nice if Germans can accept the sight of Hitler with such a relaxed fashion and take it as a joke instead of sperging out, or even feel a little pride for their country despite everything.

To me, the message was more that Hitler was not an evil baby eating dictator, but actually a sane guy with radical ideas. It was up to the society of his time to hold him back, and it´s up to the current society to prevent the rise of another Hitler.
The movie also stated that we´ll never get rid of Hitler, Hitler is Germany as much as Germany is Hitler - and as such we have the responsibility to be aware of the implications of populism.
Honestly, the movie tied this up better then the book, where it just ends after some neonazis beat up Hitler.

Some anons said in another thread that the dog-shooting scene wasn't in the book, and it was added in the movie. I'm guessing it was to make the guy less sympathetic so they don't get accused of glorifying Hitler or something.
Also, I'm not sure how the TV station got the video of the shooting anyway. They somehow had footage from multiple angles.

before watching I tough it was going to be a silly comedy (fish out of water story) with a bit of modern politics.
Almost at the very end in the roof scene I though that the movie has humanising Hitler with the "I am a part of you" thing. I though that was great, not straight up saying that Hitler did nothing wrong, but that he did what he though was right and that he was a product of 1920's Germany. A movie about being human and not demonising who you do not like.
But after the credit scene I felt the movie went full "Hurr durr durr, If you do anything against the status quo you are literally Hitler and what you are doing with not liking your government is the same the Nazis did, now accept your refugees"

I have just watched the film.
The ending is /pol/ approved, although some parts of the film disappoint sometimes, but in the ends all of it terminates well, with all the possible bad points fixed.
Not a top movie, but definitely worth watch. 6.5 or 7 out of 10.
