I have an autistic theory that our planet is an electron that will eventually need to be rebalanced to keep the structure we no longer embody, a sphere. Well, I don't know about all that, but the poles are moving, and have been for quite some time.
In reality a large enough solar flare would cause damage to electrical grids. Government studies on emp and solar storms can be found with a quick Google.
Not sure about earthquakes though. I assume most of the quakes are tectonic in nature, and a change to the magnetic field would have a greater impact in how we deflect radiation.
