This is the only Australian answer. Liberal Arts students, bankers, and lawyers are unrepresentative of Australia thus why the fuck would anyone vote for them to rule you? Draw a dick. If enough people do it, the legitimacy of the government will be questionable. Like imagine if we got to the point where like 80% of the voting population submitted ineligible ballots.

From the Science Party website, policy section.
>The Science Party has a plan for migration, the 20/20 vision, that will increase migration to keep our economy strong and counteract the ageing of our population. This plan aims to increase Australia’s population by 20 million people over the next 20 years.

look at labour force participation rate over the next 30 years mate, increased immigration is not up for debate, over the long term it is a political certainty, as otherwise our economy will go the way of japan but with agriculture and mining instead of high tech industry, and the boomers will be left to rot (they will absolutely not let that happen).

hold on i wrote up a post a while ago and saved it.

>WHY CONSERVATIVES SHOULD BE SELECTIVELY PRO-IMMIGRATION IN AUS

>Whether or not you like it, immigration is going to happen. ww1/ww2 and the boomers creatd a massive distortion in our population distribution, and the effects are still being felt today. The current birth rate is still under the replacement rate (2.1) at 1.93, and as the first of the boomers reach retirement age more people are growing old and leaving the labour force than ever before, and there just arent enough workers entering it to sustain them. Our current trajectory puts us either in MASSIVE debt or with huge cuts to our budget. Unlike Americans, Australians are extremely averse to the country being in debt as it is unsustainable for us, and the aging population is going to require a substantial increase in social security, welfare, and health expenditure to even maintain our current treatment of the elderly. These two factors along with the ever increasing liberalisation of australians means that the government is going turn to immigration to look for ways to increase its budget, bring up the participation rate, and boost the size of the workforce.
>>
>>71311757
There are two ways for the government to increase the population, immigration and encouraging citizens to reproduce more. Encouraging citizens to have more kids is the solution with the best result but it is also expensive, complicated, and most importantly it is a long term solution. The combination of these factors means that the government is going to be dissuaded from doing it, and even if it does its probably going to be pretty shit at it.
Immigration on the other hand is cheap, simple, and quick. Theres hundreds of millions of people who would emmigrate to australia if they had the chance, it costs the government less in welfare, health, and social security spending than working immigrants pay in taxes, and they come to this country ready and willing to work, meaning the solution hits home a shitload faster than a few percentage points growth in the birth rate.

Yes, there is social aversion to immigration, but you have to acknowledge that that aversion is diminishing every day. People are more and more open to immigration, and in the near future when they see how the participation rate is so fucked by or age distortion our government is barely going to hesitate to increase immigration in order to counteract it. Yes, it sucks. Immigration is happening and theres nothing you can do about it. You can yell and scream all you want but when whoever is running the country at the time has to choose between people yelling at him about racial purity and an impending economic clusterfuck i think its bloody obvious what he's going to do.

So the question now turns into what we CAN do about it. We need to jump the gun and be selectively pro immigration. If we leave it to an inevitable narrative of lefties and economists vs racists they WILL fuck this up, and the last thing we want is to turn out like sweden. If we're going to have immigrants we want them to come from cultural backgrounds that are similar to and will be accepted by ours. Western (and to a lesser extent eastern) Europe and northern America would be great places to target with more open immigration policies, we could even try shit like opening paths for white south africans, who are less welcome in their own country every year and have much to offer our country. Other methods include guarding citizenship rights and welfare benefits more closely while expanding access to permanent residency.

Immigration is coming wether we advocate for it or not, and the only thing we can change is the form in which it arrives.

We do not need third world shits, who will invariably be the main target of immigration.

How about we start doing what Hitler did? Namely, encouraging people to breed and giving them generous tax subsidies the more children they have?

>but the Muslims
They don't work or pay taxes so won't benefit. Handing out free money was the problem, which Howard tried to do.

Immigration is a stopgap measure. We need a cultural change whereby people stop think of children as a nuisance. What's the point of bringing in millions of immigrants from the West who have the same mentality as we have whereby women don't want to breed until they're bin their 30s and then have only one or two? We'll be in the exact problem again in 50 years.

This whole immigration thing across the West is one big con.

Example
>Australia's population is getting too old, better bring in more people
Those new immigrants look after said old people

>those new immigrants get old, better bring in new immigrants
The newer immigrants look after the older immigrants

>the newer immigrants get old
Hey, better bring in more and more.

I'm sure you can see where this is going.

The more people you bring in, the more people you have to look after. Bring in 10 million new immigrants that are 20-40 years of age, and then you'll have to increase the population by at least another 10 million just to look after them. It'll just keep doubling, and doubling until the whole system collapses.

Mass immigration only contributes to our consumerist society.

What do you think famalam?

I agree. Even though I think we benefitted from a crossbench of micros, it didn't express the actual intent of voters on election day.

Now for better or worse we will get the politicians we chose rather than those with the best preference deals, and we only have ourselves to blame if it leads to a shitty Senate.

kek

telstra chased optus down every street they laid fiber on then sold below cost to drive them out of the business, and it worked.

the emerging industries are mostly about technology enabling vastly more productive and efficient methods of doing old things, and they pretty much all rely on network infrastructure.

3D printing, drones, egaming (scoff all you want but this shit is big business), tech entrepenuers and startups (there are actually lots of australians doing this shit but they all go overseas due to a combination of bad regulations, no funds, and bad/expensive network infrastructure) even just services rendered on the net like netflix, psychological counseling, healthcare, legal services, teaching, etc.

we CANNOT keep doing the same shit we've always done, we will go bankrupt.

video games are a bigger industry than movies, and network infrastructure is the only thing stopping australian business and individuals from making a shitload of money off of it

>muh drones
if you think all of these fucking massive companies are super into drones for no reason, you're a fucking retard. take for example the oil industry, the use of drones in rig inspection saves literally millions of dollars every time in happens, and it happens multiple times per rig per day.

>muh 3d printing
while 3d printing isnt a big industry asset right now, they are projected to become fucking HUGE. the chinese already have prototypes printing multi-story buildings and as soon as we figure out how to print integrated circuits the electronics industry is going to fucking implode. I dunno exactly whats going to happen when you can print a smartphone with 30 bucks of printing material and an off-the-shelf battery+ screen, but i for one want to be in position to make some fucking money off it when it happens.

tl;dr: the writings on the wall, massive market upsets are on the way, and if we dont have proper net infrastructure by the time it arrives im going to do what many young successful aussies do and fuck off overseas.

all achievable using existing business connections.

> 3D printing, drones

having the hardware is probably far more important that the networking.

> egaming (scoff all you want but this shit is big business)

already offshore.

> tech entrepenuers and startups (there are actually lots of australians doing this shit but they all go overseas due to a combination of bad regulations, no funds, and bad/expensive network infrastructure)

massive hint that startupaus has never mentioned network infrastructure in either of their crossroads reports. i've worked for startups... network speeds tended to be down the list... and if it needed to be higher up on the list, sell the customer the networking infrastructure that they need while selling the other services.

> netflix

muh 4k content.

> healthcare

wearables and mobile phones with 4g connections will probably do wonders for healthcare without being connected to the NBN. iphones provide always-on capture of metrics and the apple watch is sucking the life out of wearables.
