>Old Faithful is named such because of it's pattern. Although it does not go off at precise times as some people think, it does have a pattern of eruption (usually a couple of minutes), and then stopping, with only a little steaming in between these steam eruptions. I have noticed lately, it's eruptions are lasting longer, and instead of stopping in between, it is going constantly for long periods of time. I started noticing this a couple of months ago, but recently, it seems to have increased.

In the event of a caldera eruption, particularly one in the middle of the United States, we would be royally fucked. Anyone living in Wyoming or the immediate surrounding states would die instantly in the eruption. Well I think I have the answers everyone.
First, why is it that there is a super volcano at Yellowstone? Right because the Earth's crust is weak at that point.
Now here's the thing, if we can start filling in the area with trash, heavy metals, etc. we could strengthen the crust and it would deflect the volcanic powers underneath to either be contained, or it would force it to somewhere else on the earth where it is weaker.

No. While Krakatoa is a volcano that has the propensity to erupt violently enough to cause widespread localized destruction (and it has), a caldera eruption is a much different animal.
To put it in perspective, Krakatoa erupted violently enough that it produced one of the loudest sounds ever heard, destroyed cities, and was seen from thousands of miles away. Tambora (also a supervolcano) almost wiped out humanity, reducing us from potentially millions of humans to about 3,000 to 10,000 and caused a volcanic winter that lasted about 6-10 years, it may have even affected human evolution.

If yellowstone was really about to have a major eruption everyone in the area would know. Earthquakes would become extremely frequent. Thermal expansion would cause the ground there to rise by 100s of feet, there would all kinds of outgassing and mini-explosions too.
Plus not every eruption from Yellowstone is catastrophic, some are barely worse than your typical volcano. The last two Yellowstone eruptions (The Thumb lake 150k ya and the Mary bay eruptions 13k ya) haven't been that bad at all. Everyone always compares the "next big one" to the worst one on record (the Huckleberry ridge eruption) which happened 2.1 million years ago and was the first. Calderas tend to lessen in explosivity and damage and Yellowstone has definitely exhibited that pattern. They are fed (we think) by mantle plumes that migrate over time (or more precisely the overlying tectonic plate moves).
The Yellowstone magma chamber is huge (4000 cubic Kms) but seismic data shows it's probably only about 6-8% melt and most geologists think it isn't likely to produce another Huckleberry ridge or Lava Creek style supereruption.
The event 13k years ago that formed Mary's Bay is more likely the type of thing we will see. It'd be bad, but really not much worse than something like Krakatoa.
I'd be much more worried about the Long Valley Caldera in California or the Indonesian Caldera (whose name escapes me) both of those were formed much more recently and probably still have enough melt to produce a supereruption.

In northern New Zealand, there's a big lake called Lake Taupo. It's also a supervolcano.
