i've only been on /pol for about 6 months but can anyone tell me how much "its happening" went on during the crimean crisis, ukrainian crisis, libyan crisis and other cirses over the years? by now WW3 should've happened.

My mortal fear is living out life just like my grandfather did.
He was born in 1931, so he was too young to participate in the World War II.
Then in the 1990s, he was too old to participate in the Homeland War.
In between, absolutely nothing happened. No wars, no famines, no meteor strikes, no revolutions, nothing. Just some fucking stupid existence where politicians in grey suits speak some meaningless shit, people protest a bit, something goes on, and we all watch TV.
He lived out his entire life on a countryside working the fields, feeding the stock, and drinking wine and making sausages.
Last ten years he was slowly dying just because it was time. He died two years ago.
What a fucking nightmare.

It's not whether there was danger or not, it's whether it happened or not.
Looming danger of the Cold War nuclear holocaust is the same shit we have today with bazillion shit going around (ISIS, ebola, stock market crashes, gooks with atom bombs...). Actually it's worse than today because Soviets were just as imperialistic as the Americans so there was more chance of shit hitting the fan.
But... as we all know, it didn't happened. 70 years of pure nonsense and nothing happening.
That's why I'm afraid. I know this won't last forever, as nothing does, but the idea of missing something great is horrifying.
Imagine being fucking 90, dying in your bed, all while people of your age today (20-30) are retaking Constantinople, fucking Animal Mothers marines fighting under mushroom clouds and shit.
