Are we living in a simulation? Let's discuss.
>>
we are just a bad game of sims

why discuss any philosofical questions when we can make jokes about jews, Trump, Australia and Sweden?

Go to /his/ (but be warned: they don't like threads like these because there is no right answer to your question so they know it's a waste of time)

Yes but we're in a simulation inside a simulation etc I reckon we're about 7 layers deep.

I'll believe that when the pool ladder disappears.

That already happened to me m8. Things just disappearing n shit like that.

where, according to you, relatively to australia is new zealand?
west? east? answer from memory not from google.
>>
>>71143225
Maybe.

I've started having an overwhelming amount of deja vu. It's become so common that I believe I've already lived my life in dreams.

I disagree. I think this is a /pol/ question. Political ideologies that define societies are simulations we allow to define our lives. They're essentially memes in which we live.

For example, the same land where the Visigoths tread in tribes is the same land Hitler tread, which is the same land in which Merkel tread.

The only things that really changed are the memes defining political society which the people residing in Germania adhered to.

Society itself, which defines or reality, is definitely a simulation.

Now if you're talking about quantum physics type-shit, I am not the right person. But I know there's something like 12-14 dimensions of reality.

Cuk son - lol

and people supposedly "shifted" reported that things went missing and geography also shifted
major things include south america moving east and new zeleand switching places
>>
>>71143225
The real answer is: It doesn't matter.

Perceived reality and actual reality are the same thing, if you believe it to be real, then it is.

You can by definition never prove reality to be real in the first place, so it's not worth worrying about.
>>
>>71143225
If life was a simulation wouldn't death be the ultimate barrier necessary for complete immersion? If the only way out is through death people will be more likely to live through the entire simulation instead of copping out early.

In other words kill yourself
>>

>Perceived reality and actual reality are the same thing, if you believe it to be real, then it is.
thats not true, its self evident when you use halucinogens
>You can by definition never prove reality to be real in the first place
this however, is true
>>
>>71147699
actually, i ignore minor changes, especially things like spelling, which are too easy to misremember or mistake, it only takes the credibility away from the theory.
>>
>>71147773
Maybe I worded it wrong: If you believe reality to be real, then it is real to you, because there is no functional difference from simulated to actual reality to you.

Or short: If you believe reality to be real, then it is real to you.

I had some occurences where buildings simply disappeared and cars disappeared while i was literally near them. Also saw a grown woman becoming a child of like 6 years. So..

It's impossible to tell, because it's metaphysics in the strictest, most pejorative sense.

If our Universe can be described in the language of axiomatic logic, it can in theory be represented by a state in a computer.

I think what most people don't get is that their concept of a 'simulation' of everyday life necessarily involves Galilean symmetry, whereas we know our Universe doesn't have that.

A true simulation of our Universe would look very strange to us. Of course we don't understand our Universe completely in such a perfect axiomatic way, so we can't describe what it would look like.
>>
>>71143225
Yes and someone left it running.
>>
>>71147885
M8 the point is the truth.
>>
>>71147885
the thing is, that will only imo stand to empirically unreachable concepts, like god.

on the other hand, i,e when you are on drugs and believe, lets say, a chair walks, but its proven later that it didnt it wasnt real.

however the point depends completely on what your aksjoms are, specifically definitions of truth and reality
>>
Yes and I'm running it.
>>
>>71148220
Well, for as long as you believe the chair walking to be real, it is real to you.

The difference to drug usage is that in life, there is no un-life state in which to reflect the nature of things off on. To use the drug analogy, it's not like you can become "sober" of life as far as we know. Therefor your are permanently drugged up as far as reality is concerned.
>>
>>71148031
but you're basing that on a euclidean spatial construct whereas the condition of the matter might be non-linear

>>
>>71143225
There is no way to verify or disprove it. So how about you fucking toss this shit thread and go do something you goddamn cuck.
>>
>>71148379
thats why i mentioned
>however the point depends completely on what your aksjoms are, specifically definitions of truth and reality
because you know, we can only talk further about that if you tell me what you believe in.
in those concepts you sadly need to state that since its non-obvious and there is no "correct" answer
>>
>>71147492
12-14 ya OK
>>
>>71148481
exactly, but talking about is an exercise.
purely theoretical but at least lets people practice abstract thinking, thats why i think it can be beneficial.

m8, i think you need to get checked by proffesionals, and i dont mean psychiatrists but normal "body" doctors, it may signify something is seriously wrong with your health

I want a refund if I'm living in a simulation. This ride fucking sucks.
>>
>>71148402
No, I say that at all. It doesn't need any of that to be represented as a state on a computer, it just needs to a defined axiomatic object.

Like I said, it might look really weird. But if we accept some model, any model, of physics which agrees with experiment as far as we can test, as the true model of our universe, we could say it's a simulation. And I don't think those requirements of a 'true' theory of physics are even that unreasonable. They are a suitable definition to what we're talking about when we say 'our Universe'.

how would memory work?

if a year in this sim-world is a minute in the real-world, and you played a hourish long game once a day, you'd be having a lifetime worth of memories for every day. you just can't remember all that.

either you'd remember dozens to hundreds or thousands of lives, or you'd not remember much of the game you just played, your you'd be real-world fucked mentally.
>>
>>71143225

No

even if it were a simulation, at the bottom of whatever, there are still natural laws that determine the shape of the universe, which would include the simulation

but no, we're not living in a simulation

we live in real life
>>
