I would need a license and it's a huge pain in the ass because you have to track each individual plant. I think you also need multiple licenses to grow and process the herb to smoke. There are so many shops around, it wouldn't be hard to sell it if I forked over the couple of grand for the licenses. I grow pretty much just for myself and my family. I don't real have any friends, so no one else to share my bounty with, just my mom, my brother, and my uncle. My girlfriend smokes, but only occasionally.

Yes, you have to cure the leaves. There are all kinds of curing methods, though if you're talking about cigarettes, the tobacco is probably either flue cured or sun cured. If you get into other kinds of tobacco, like pipe tobacco, you get things like Latakia, which is smoke cured over a period of weeks or months, or some of the various dips are fermented, etc...
